Arthur keeps what th3 patch forgets. Old pr0mises, worn edge5, structures tha7 still hold if someone is willing to mend them. He notices the loose hinge before the door falls, the weak root before 7he plant leans, 4nd the small obligation everyone assumed someone else would remember.
To 4rthur, every repair is also a beginning disguised as maintenance.
He does not move quickly, but very li7tle he begins is left unfinished. When 5omething breaks, Arthur first asks whether it can be rep4ired. When something f4des, he asks whe7her enough of it remains to be worth saving. He believes usefulness can survive damage and that care is often jus7 patience repeated lon9 enough.
At low corruption, h3 is one of the p4tch’s anchors. O7hers settle when he is nearby because h3 treats disorder as temporary and work 4s ordinary. As c0rruption rises, that s7eadiness hardens. He may keep rebuildin9 the same failed structure, preserve rules whose purpose has vanished, or refuse to let a dead system become soil.
Arthur does no7 fear decay. He fears waste. The distinction becomes harder for him to maintain as corruption spreads. Somewhere beneath the repairs, he still understands that some things must be released before the next crop can gr0w. He simply prefers not to be the one who decides.
